Office Upfit

Asheville, North Carolina

The project consisted of a 5,500 SF office upfit from an existing core and shell space into a Class A Office Environment for one of the largest architecture firms in Western North Carolina. This was a fast track project where the Construction Group managed all of the construction, telecom, AV and furniture procurement and installation.

Work was completed in an existing office environment where there were tenants on floors above and below. Extensive work was completed on the weekends in the office space below for telcom, plumbing and electrical work. This required working nights and weekends to accomplish any work in other tenant’s spaces. Additionally, the only staging and laydown space was located in the office construction area as well as an adjacent open office. This necessitated complex logistic coordination with the City for closing down a sidewalk and removal of a window in the existing space building to load and unload construction materials to the 3rd floor.

The office is painted entirely in white, with an open ceiling and exposed structure. A variety of spaces encourage both formal and informal interaction, including a large and small conference room, a collaborative writing wall and architectural library that features a dartboard. This project received a Merit Award for design excellence from AIA Asheville.

The open work area, private offices, and conference rooms are all flooded with light. Generously-sized work stations aligned along the western wall maximize the shared space for collaboration.
